Diego Azubel

Available for commissions and assignments

Argentinean born Diego Azubel began his photography journey photographing
fashion and studio photo-shoots, before turning his attention to
documenting lives and moments, as every instant as it is, only happens
once.

During the early years of his career, Diego worked for several
Argentinean publications specializing in music, which led him to work
with musicians both in studio as well as live concerts. Diego was
fortunate enough to photograph music legends such as Sting, Kiss, The
Ramones, Iggy Pop, The Cure, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Peter Gabriel,
Aerosmith, as well as The Rolling Stones among many others.

Eventually, his passion for photography and his love for travel led
Diego to leave his homeland in pursuit of stories in faraway lands. In
Cambodia and Laos he documented the devastating impact that landmines
have on civilians even decades after wars have ended. In the Mongolian
mountains he documented the lives of the Mongolian Tsaatan, reindeer
herders. He spent 9 months in Mauritania working on a in-depth story on
slavery.

From October 2000 to December 2001, Diego set off on an expedition on
foot where he spent 15 months walking over 4,000 kilometers along The
Great Wall of China. In 2004-2005 he set off on another expedition, this
time a 7 months walk through Tibet.

In June 2006 Diego joined the European Pressphoto Agency as staff
photographer in Beijing, China, where he covered everything from social
issues and natural disasters, to politics and sports (such as Summer and
Winter Olympic Games, FIFA World Cup, IAAF Athletics World
Championships, Formula 1, etc.)

Diego is also a supporter and volunteer for the Special Olympics
movement, helping with donations from sponsors and sales from his
photographs, and he actively volunteers his time and expertise
photographing  Special Olympics events such as Special Olympics Summer
and Winter Games.

Diego’s images have been published in most major publications worldwide,
including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post,
Times, The Guardian, Der Spiegel.

Diego is based in Bangkok, Thailand.
